Grundtvig Learnining Partners, Meeting in Paris

The Grundtvig Learning Partners in the Project „Mentor Development Programmes: Transforming learners into educators supported by e-communication tools” came together for their 3rd meeting in Paris from Feb 11-13.



The core program on Feb 12 was attended by 21 representatives of the Learning Partners and 4 speakers of related French organisations. The schedule included:
- the results of a survey among the partners on the definition of key terms such as "learner", "mentor", "educator"; concepts of learner-mentor-educator relations, as well as e-tools employed by the partner organisations
- sharing expertise and discussing e-tools to facilitate mentoring, learners´ participation and transparent in-house communication
- a presentation by the French organisation ARPEJEH on how to build an accessible website for visually impaired people and how to implement national and EU standards of web accessibility (like EURACERT)
- a presentation of web 2.O. tools used by Alcatel Lucent to improve knowledge transfer, foster communication and transparency in a global enterprise with 70.000 employees.

The next meeting takes place in Warsaw in May 2010 and is hosted by ONE.PL.

The Association of Disabled Women ONE.pl/Stowarzyszenie Kobiet Niepełnosprawnych ONE.pl

Dear Partners,

Let me present a short overview of our Association.

The Association of Disabled Women ONE.pl (Stowarzyszenie Kobiet Niepełnosprawnych ONE.pl) was founded in 2004 as the first and the only non-governmental organization in Poland of this kind, which sets out as its goal & mission the work for women with disabilities in regards to 3 main fields:

the systemic changes and solutions; the direct assistance; education and activation.


The Disabled Women Association ONE.pl began as an initiative of active women with different disabilities & representing different professions (including lawyer, social politics graduate, IT specialist, journalist, psychologist, sociologist, cultural studies graduate, musician) & with experience both in non-governmental sector, public administration and academic work.

Even though our main focus are disabled women, membership in ONE.pl is not limited to females only. On the contrary, everybody is welcome to join.

CURRENT & PAST INITIATIVES & ACTIVITIES:

- expert level: ONE.pl members serve as experts to various advisory organs (including MISARN, UNDP, Committee for Social Dialogue Regarding Disabled Women at the Warsaw City Hall)

- project of sheltered flats: conceptualising the project concerning a network of flats at housing estates where persons with disabilities can function normally and, if needed, they will have access to organized assistance, cheaper than normal (assistants, transport)

- building national coalition within the sector: creating a strong lobby of disabled persons in Poland cooperating with local governments and parliamentary agencies

- informative initiatives: participation in public debates on double discrimination of disabled women (publications in newspapers, taking part in radio and television programs); taking part in panel discussions and conferences

- educational-informative publications: putting together a first handbook for disabled women in Poland which was created fully by experts who are at the same time disabled persons

- communication platform: creation of an internet website tackling issues concerning disabled women in Poland: www.onepl.org.pl

- strengthening the community of disabled women by creating a first in Poland interactive website “Open House” (www.domotwarty.org.pl) which offers different consulting services and web-based mentoring for disabled women in Poland, their families, friends and co-workers. “Open House” offers online fora, chats, and scheduled online meetings psychologists, lawyers, social workers et al.

As we agreed during our launching meeting in Berlin, we would like to collect some further information relevant to our partnership.
The questions refer to:
a) how we define learners and mentors in our organization,
b) strategies we employ to foster the learner to mentor transition,
c) and the e-tools we already use to transform learners into mentors. This information will serve as a good base for our discussions and exchange of ideas.

In order to collect this information in an efficient way, we created a Wufoo form.

Network Migration in Europe

Dear partners,

Let me briefly introduce the work of the "Network Migration in Europe" to you.

In the broadest sense, the Network is an interdisciplinary forum for people who are interested in or work in the area of immigration and integration, i.e. experts and academics, opinion leaders, NGO members, students, journalists... We cover topics such as (forced) migration, refuge & asylum, integration processes in immigration societies, and human & minority rights in European, transnational and global contexts. In cooperation with organizations from civil society, education, culture and science we are committed to dialogue, knowledge transfer, and the exchange of learning approaches and action models.

We focus on three areas of expertise:
1. Sharing Knowledge and Networking (Newsletter "Migration and Population"; experts database "Migration");
2. Education and Culture: e-learning, training seminars, projects;
3. Dialogue Platform: conferences, summer schools, workshops, publications, scientific monitoring, evaluation.

Towards the end of the year we will relaunch our website (http://www.network-migration.org/) and include an English version.

We are very much looking forward to our next meeting in the Netherlands end of November!

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone!

Nice meeting you online, and it will be even better getting to know each other live in Berlin within two weeks! I think everything is being arranged for really well, thanks to Anne and colleagues!

So what’s Critical Mass and who’s writing?

Critical Mass (http://www.criticalmass.nu/) is a foundation based in the Netherlands. It seeks to share knowledge of social processes that underlie (violent) conflict. Our aim is to provide people with a set of skills, enabling them to prevent, to signal and to defuse conflict. At this point eight people are employed by Critical Mass, and besides we can count on a great and active pool of about 50 volunteers.

We target a variety of adolescents and adults, mostly in Dutch society. One of our main and growing activities is training (young) adults working with youth or youth-related themes. We aim to equip them professionally with adequate approaches and methodologies, including video and audio material for conflict training and online seminar tools.

Bas Gadiot and I will attend the launch meeting in Berlin. Bas is one of the founders and directors of Critical Mass, and together we organize and develop our training activities for adult learners.

Introduction to the learning partnership members -HIA France

Dear all,

I am very much looking forward to seeing you all in Berlin on September 1 st; Thanks Anne for all your work in coordinating this.

HIA-France belongs to a multinational network of non-profit organizations who focus on Human rights and minority rights education in a historical, comparative and action-oriented perspective. As well as running activities for various target groups (grassroots, academic, professional, etc.), our activity consists in running summer programs in parntership with other HIA organizations for students who show a particular interest in this field, and in contributing to maintaining an active, multigenerational and multidisciplinary network of social innovators in the field of human rights and minority rights across the world.

I'll be joining you with Martine Alonso Marquis, Vice President of the French Senior Fellow Network - the French branch of the 800-wide network of those who have participated in an HIA program since the first editions in Denmark and The Netherlands 10 years ago. We have been working on how to better use technology to improve targeted communication and collaboration throughout the network this past year, so I very much look forward to hearing from your experiences as we move forward in this Learning Partnership.

The basics of complying with the grant regulations: (Feasibility check: Each partner agrees with the workplan and the number of mobilities; Each partner has signed the grant agreement and sent it back to the national agency; Each partner puts the Grundtvig logo and project info on the organisations´ website; Each partner archives travel tickets and certificate of participation as a proof; Each partner collects ANY media reports on the GV LP for the final report to the EU)
3. Recent developments in the partners´ respective adult education programmes since Feb 09 which might be of relevance to implementation of the learning partnership into our regular workplan at home
4. Contribution of each partner to the project blog, which will work as our project diary, discussion forum and “institutional memory” of the learning partnership
5. Format for the result of the learning partnership, the booklet with success stories “How I became a mentor”. This collection of success stories is continued until the end of the learning partnership,
6. Practical examples how each partner will involve relevant learners and staffers in the organisation at home, as well as identify persons for the “success stories”,
7. Schedule of meetings (mobilities), activities in between and potential consultative visits of one or the other partner.
8. Monitoring and evaluation standards (based on the criteria given in the Grundtvig Navigator guidebook and in the report forms downloadable on the website of the Grundtvig agencies.

As a result of this launching meeting, all partners will – hopefully - commit themselves to an updated agreement defining the distributions of tasks, the concrete contribution of each partner and an updated schedule for meetings and activites between the meetings.

The meeting is hosted and logistically prepared by NETZWERK MIGRATION IN EUROPA.

The meeting is contentwise prepared and moderated by HUMANITY IN ACTION GERMANY

The meeting is documented (draft) by the host of the next meeting, the Polish partner One.pl.

Or take Metro U2 from Alexanderplatz to station “Eberswalder Straße”, then walk 10 min.

2. From Tegel Airport:

Take the airport bus TKL either to station „Alexanderplatz“ (40 minutes ride) or to station “Hauptbahnhof” (20 minutes ride), then follow directions above.

3. From Schönefeld Airport:

Take any S-Bahn (you might have to change at station “Baumschulenweg” or Treptower Park” or Regional Train (direct) going to „Alexanderplatz“ (30-40 minutes ride), then follow directions above.

Launching Meeting Grundtvig Learning Partnership

Dear all,

After initial phone conversations with many of you, here is a suggestion:
Let´s met in Berlin on Sept 1, 2009, 11.00-19.00. We can have our Grundtvig
Learning Partnership Launching Meeting at the Humanity in Action seminar room
(district Prenzlauer Berg, postal adress below).

Does that work for all of you? It is sufficient for the moment, if just one person from
every involved partner organization joins this launching meeting, but of
course there more persons are warmly welcomed (according to the number of
monbilities you indicated in the application), especially your collegues and
learners who cooperate with you throughout the two years of our
Learning partnership.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call me or write. If this
meeting date works for all of us, I will follow up with directions and a
draft agenda.
